NSW Holidays & Travel Guide
Welcome to New South Wales
New South Wales is a wonderful state of Australia, offering visitors-the full spectrum of holiday experiences.
Sydney is the capital of New South Wales and is the usual first “port of call” for travellers to Australia.
There are so many experiences to be enjoyed in New South Wales, you will always come back for more.
In New South Wales, you can climb the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge - for the best views of Sydney imaginable. Or take in a concert at our world recognised Opera House. If you feel like surfing, sun baking or having a fish, Sydney has some of the best city beaches in the world, with Bondi Beach being well known the world over, and a “must see” stop for tourists to Sydney, as well as the Pittwater Northern Beaches area of Sydney.
Actually there are over 2000 kilometres of beaches in New South Wales, including Byron Bay, on the Tropical North Coast region. If your tastes include wine, you will love a getaway to the Hunter Valley region-tasting our delicious wines, that are exported all across the world. If you interests are more adventurous, you are well catered for in New South Wales. Skiing , snowboarding or even hiking, rock-climbing, abseiling and paragliding are just some of the pursuits for the adventurous to enjoy in the Snowy Mountains or Blue Mountains areas, while the Jenolan caves is a fascinating and colourful adventure.
New
South Wales offers a unique range of nature-based holidays.
Travel the State and discover dense forests hiding a complex
mosaic of plant and animal life. Alpine
country with mountainsides covered in snow gums. Sun-scarred
desert parks that metamorphose into a kaleidoscope of wildflowers
in spring. Untamed coastal country with kilometres of golden-sand
beaches and bays on the North
Coast. There are many travel operators who specialise in tours designed
to provide visitors with a taste of the great Australian outdoors
in either thrill-seeking, adrenalin-pumping activities or in
more gentle pursuits. Top of the list in adventure experiences
are mountain bike riding, white water rafting, para gliding,
caving, canyoning, rock climbing, abseiling, tandem skydiving
and hot air ballooning over the Central
West's wheatfields. On the milder side, there are a whole
range of nature tours that focus on birdwatching, nature viewing,
bush walking and still- water canoeing. On the other hand, luxury
lovers can take their wilderness with champagne and canapes.
All this and more can be done on an adventure tour from Sydney. In Sydney there is the Opera House, Sydney Harbour and Bridge. The Rocks district is a treasure trove of Australia.
If you would like to take the family away on a trip to remember, why not go on a camping trip in the New South Wales Outback, visiting the animals in the Dubbo Zoo, or why not go fossicking for opals in Lightning Ridge. Would you like to learn about aboriginal life? Then visit Mungo National Park, and step back 30,000 years into the past with ancient rock paintings. Running along the southern border of New South Wales is the Murray River in the Riverina region. Here you can sail on the river or take a ride in a paddle steamer, soaking in the sights and sounds of this vital Australian waterway . Australia’s capital city Canberra is located only a 2 hour drive from Sydney, and is worth a visit to some of our country’s most historical records and attractions. Although New South Wales has over 100 islands, most are not inhabitable- Lord Howe Island. It is a beautiful island to explore and a relaxing time spent away, if you are looking for something a little different from the Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef Islands.
There are many great holidays to be savored in New South Wales and life long memories and experiences for all travellers to enjoy. We look forward to your visit.
