With more than 3000 reefs it is the most extensive coral reef system in the world. And if you enjoy swimming, sunbaking, surfing or fishing then Queensland has some beautiful beaches on offer to enjoy. Both the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast offer some beautiful beaches. Fraser Island with its striking coloured sand cliffs’ and freshwater creeks, makes an ideal stop over for camping, swimming and enjoying a relaxing break. The Gold Coast is home to the popular theme parks Dreamworld and White Water world, Movie World, Sea World and Wet and Wild which will have you and the family exhilarated from a fun filled day of action packed thrills. For a panoramic view of the Gold Coast why not take a visit to the Q deck, in the Q1 building, the tallest residential building in the world. Tropical North Queensland boasts hundreds of kilometres of stunning mainland beaches. The Whitsundays, Hamilton Island and Port Douglas are a must see destination with stunning rainforests and pristine beaches. Further north on the East Coast are the world famous Whitsunday Islands. The World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef spans 2 000km from the tip of Cape York to Gladstone in the south. A scuba divers paradise with 2 900 individual reefs, 71 coral islands, 10 000 species of sponge, 350 different species of coral, 4 000 species of molluscs, 350 species of echinoderms and over 1 500 species of fish.
Far North Queensland or the Tropical North is home to the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest, crocodiles, fantastic barramundi fishing and the anglers dream - the Black Marlin.
