Ningaloo Reef - Western Australia

NINGALOO REEF - WA

Ningaloo Reef - Outback Coast. Western Australia
Ningaloo Marine Park stretches from Bundegi Beach north of Exmouth to Amherst Point south of Coral Bay. Ningaloo Reef Marine Park protects the state’s largest reef, a stunning underwater landscape of over 500 fish species and 250 species of corals, manta rays, turtles and a variety of other marine creatures, located directly off the beach.

The park protects the 260 kilometre long Ningaloo Reef, the longest fringing coral reef in Australia. It is the only large reef in the world found so close to a continental land mass: about 100 metres offshore at its nearest point and less than seven kilometres at its furthest, giving easy access for even novice snorkelers and children to access the coral gardens.

With seasonal visits from humpback whales, dolphins and whale sharks.  For a quintessential Ningaloo experience, take a swim with the whale sharks, the gentle giants that migrate to the reef between March and June. From April to June visitors from around the world converge on Ningaloo to swim with these gentle giants. Tours can be arranged in Exmouth.
