Aluminium
(Bell
Bay)
Limited,
50 kilometres
north
of Launceston,
plays
a significant
role
in Australia's
industrial
history,
being
the
country's
first
aluminium
smelter.
Today,
more
than
90 000
tonnes
of high
grade
aluminium
are
smeltered
by Comalco
at Bell
Bay
for
domestic
and
overseas
markets.
